Medical Education 3 and Patient Care Technician (PCT)
Medical Education 3 students participate in clinical rotations at McLaren Macomb Hospital and Health Quest Physical Therapy in Mount Clemens. At McLaren Macomb, they provide comfort carts—including blankets, books, magazines, crossword puzzles, and coloring books—to patients and their families. This experience helps students develop communication skills with patients, families, and medical staff while also reinforcing patient privacy, hand hygiene, and other essential soft skills. At Health Quest Physical Therapy, students job shadow physical therapists and technicians, assist with clinic upkeep, and further refine their interpersonal skills.
Patient Care Technician students are preparing for their certification exam at the end of the school year. During their clinical rotations at McLaren Macomb Hospital, they assist medical staff with patient care tasks, including taking vital signs, changing linens, providing blankets and water, assisting with bed baths, and helping patients with ambulation. This hands-on experience allows them to apply their classroom training in a real hospital setting.
