Scholarships

All nominated "Outstanding CTE Students" are eligible for one of the scholarships below. If you are interested in supporting a student scholarship please contact Shannon Williams at swilliams@misd.net

MCTEAA Scholarship ($500):

MCTEAA—the Macomb Career and Technical Education Administrators Association—is a dedicated and collaborative body of professionals focused on CTE. It is our privilege to support the best possible career-focused learning experiences for thousands of students in the 21 public school districts of Macomb County and at Macomb Community College. We are witness to the often extraordinary outcomes that our students and alumni achieve when education and industry partner together. The MCTEAA scholarships support outstanding CTE students as they continue their career preparation beyond high school and take their place in the workforce, well-prepared, to help fill the skills gap in critically important, high-demand and high-skill occupations. We are pleased to financially support these outcomes in honor of the CTE administrators and mentors who have come before us.

Haynes Family Fund Scholarship ($500):

The Haynes Family Fund scholarship is awarded in honor of the life and legacy of Lawrence Stewart Haynes.  Sergeant 1st Class Lawrence Haynes, served with distinction in the US Army.  After which time, he pursued a civilian career in the skilled trades while raising 4 boys with his wife Evelyn.  As a member of the Sheet Metal Union Local 80, Haynes understood the value in skilled trades and installed that in his sons.  They subsequently used that knowledge to establish their own careers in the field.  The Haynes family is a firm believer that all education is career education and is honored to support future students on their chosen career path.

Wesner Scholarship ($500):

Dan Wesner has been a loyal supporter of career & technical education for decades.  He believes in the value of CTE for all students and as a result, has partnered with many Macomb County programs.  Dan’s love for career & technical education started back when he himself was in high school.  As he states, “It was the best part of my day”.  Now as a successful business owner, he is honored to work with Macomb County programs.  He recognizes that same excitement he once had in school mirrored in today’s CTE students and is encouraged by the passion he sees in CTE teachers.
