Pills, prescription and passion

Imagine earning a professional certification before even graduating high school. Students in the Pharmacy Technician class at Fitzgerald High School get to do just that. Fitzgerald High School offers students the unique opportunity to enroll in a full year Pharmacy Technician class that prepares them for a career in the world of Pharmacy or for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.

Throughout the year, students dive deep into the top 200 medications, learning everything from brand and generic names to dosages, indications, and how drugs are classified. They also explore pharmacy laws, patient care practices, and ethical standards, which gives them a well rounded understanding of the profession.

One of the most exciting aspects of the class are the hands-on labs. During labs, students simulate real pharmacy tasks, like filling prescriptions, preparing medications, and weighing compounds, which helps bring classroom learning to life. By the end of the second semester, students have the chance to apply their knowledge by taking the PTCB exam, at no cost to the student. The class is engaging, and requires focus and dedication, but students find it fun and rewarding as their skills grow. For students curious about healthcare, or simply enjoying a challenge, the pharmacy technician class offers an exciting and incredibly rewarding experience that makes learning fun while also preparing for the future!
